The Fibromyalgia Mystery Is Solved At Last

Recently, researches have been examining the cause of pain in fibromyalgia. And they prove that the pain actually doesn’t begin from the brain. This is a big discovery that puts an end of the mystery about fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia affects a lot of people and usually it is treated with painkillers. Until now experts believed it is a psychological disorder, but now it is proven that the pain is activated by the blood vessels in the hand.
This is promising for over five millions Americans, which suffer from fibromyalgia, that can hope that finally new treatments can be found.

The Results:
The scientists tested the patient’s skin of the hand with an absence of sensory nerve fibers that indicated reduced pain response. They found a big number of nerve fibers (arterioles-venule referrals) in the sample of the skin. So, they assumed that these nerve fibers are actually responsible for regulation of the blood flow. They also found that there is a deep correlation between these nerves and fibromyalgia pain.

All of these new findings finally will give the answer why patients with fibromyalgia feel the pain in their hands and also why the cold worsen these symptoms.
Dr. Frank L. Rice, a neuroscientist, explains that the nerve endings are involved in blood flow regulation. He notes that the main cause of muscle aches, discomfort and fatigue, could be this weakly regulated blood flow that is a result of the accumulation of the lactic acid and low inflammation.

According to him, it may result in the brain hyperactivity.
