Alcohol can be used for different reasons. People usually use it for adhesive removal or as a disinfectant. But alcohol can be used in cosmetics, too.
Here we will show you several ways to use alcohol:
1. Get rid of bed bugs
If you have issue with bed bugs, take an empty spray bottle and refill it with rubbing alcohol. Spray your pillows and mattress with it.
You should repeat this method several times in order to kill pests lay eggs too.
2. Deodorant replacement
If you are out of deodorant you can use alcohol instead. Rubbing alcohol can also kill all the body bacteria that cause odor.
But don’t use it too often, because alcohol can irritate and burn your skin.
3. Homemade cool pack
Alcohol can’t turn into ice. So you can make cooling pad.
You should pour 1 part alcohol with 2 parts of water into a sealable plastic bag. Remove as much air as it possible from the bag and place it in the freezer.
Leave it for an hour, and after that you can use it to cool your lunch on a hike, or for an injury.
4. Kill lice
Alcohol can remove lice. In a spray bottle filled with alcohol add a couple drops of lavender oil. Apply the mixture on the scalp and hair. After a minute, comb the hair and remove all the dead lice. The Wisconsin Division of Public Health advices to soak used lice combs in this alcohol for at least one hour, to be sure that all the bugs are dead.
5. Clean your ears
If you think that using cotton swaps is dangerous then cleaning your ears with alcohol is the right way for you. Make a mix of rubbing alcohol and a little white vinegar. Dip a cotton swap in it and drop it into the ears. The wax will remove by itself.
6. Remove fingernail polish
A nail polish remover bought at the store contain harsh chemicals that can damage the nails. The natural alternative is the pure rubbing alcohol.
Of course it will take longer to remove the polish, but at least your nails won’t be damaged.
7. No more ingrown hairs
Ingrown hair can be so annoying. Whenever it is bikini line or armpits zone, it is irritating. But there is a perfect solution for this issue. Apply rubbing alcohol on the skin and ingrown hairs will be gone. Alcohol will also make your skin smooth and it will protect any irritation.
8. Clear your skin
Acne-fighting creams and gels contain benzoyl peroxide. But, you can always use rubbing alcohol, which can help you to clear your skin. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, alcohol will disinfect the pimples, sooth surrounding skin and prevent additional ones from showing.
Apply the alcohol directly to the pimple, but don’t use it too often, to avoid skin irritation.
9. Cold sores
Around 85% of people carry the herpes virus, but only a small number will experience a break out.
But if you somehow have problems with a herpes, you need to apply 70% isopropyl alcohol on the affected skin. This way herpes sores will disappear faster.
10. Hand sanitizer
Using alcohol you can make hand sanitizer. Mix a ½ tablespoon of isopropyl alcohol with 4 oz. of Aloe Vera gel and add a couple drops of tea-tree oil.
This homemade sanitizer is healthier than the ones from the stores.
